Our client, a well known developer, had a serious problem to overcome with the residential city flats that they were building. Fire regulations called for automatically opening smoke vents to clear the stairwells in the event of a fire, however they had to be aesthetically acceptable as the stairwells were a major feature of the design. We were able, using our Stardome range to create special sized triple glazed polycarbonate dome with automatic smoke vent actuation, wired into the fire system, to give a safe and attractive solution that also ensured natural light for the stairwells. The developer was delighted and went on to incorporate the feature into all similar developments.
