A charming new development of two, three, four and five bedroom homes in Surrey - close to a country park and within easy commuting distance of central London. Inside, every aspect of these homes has been carefully considered by the developer to create light and flowing spaces for comfortable contemporary living.
High build quality and light and airy spaces are the trademarks of this reputable developer and this project was no exception.
The new development brought with it an opportunity to raise the creative bar and incorporating features to enhance the impression of openness and natural bright light were key. Every home on the development was designed intelligently to maximise the space and facilitate access to as much natural light as possible. Generous windows enhanced the feeling of light and space in reception areas but the point of difference was the inclusion of rooflights in main living areas. Rooflights deliver up to 3 times more light into a room than vertical windows.
The ability to specify rooflights to suit each of the individual property designs and sizes of properties meant that National Domelight Company’s (NDC) ‘Stardome’ was the obvious choice for the development overall. The advantage to the building designers meant that no matter what size of flat roof area was available for the introduction of roof lighting they were able to have the units made to exact size, at no extra cost. This prevented the developer from being forced to design the build to accommodate restrictive fixed / stock sizes available from other suppliers.
The design element of the build was also very important and the specification of pyramid shaped polycarbonate rooflights meant that they were able to bring in clean architectural lines without losing valuable light through the introduction of unnecessary framework, which would be required when specifying a glass pyramid.
Other manufacturers can charge a premium of up to 20% for pyramid shaped instead of dome shape but with Stardome there is no extra charge.
All rooflights specified for this development also included vertical MK2 PVC upstands, which meant that the clearlight size of the rooflights would be preserved increasing the available light in the room below.
The developer achieved the objective of building highly desirable and therefore ‘saleable’ properties. The creation of free flowing light airy space is especially evident in ‘Stardome’ locations within each property. NDC met and exceeded the developer’s demands for high build quality and flexibility - working to exact specifications. Consistent quality, fast delivery on request and competitive pricing all came as standard.
