Glass Roof Lanterns
Glass roof lanterns can become a real architectural feature in an extension or orangery, offering a contemporary way to allow lots of natural light into a room from every angle. Rather than being a flat rooflight that can't be seen from the outside, roof lanterns are made from several panes of glass which join to create a pyramid, box or elongated pyramid shape which rises above the roof.
Using a supporting kerb, the glass panes are held in place by glazing bars visible from underneath, unlike a flat rooflight. The glazing bars and connectors are a charming feature of the design, but some more modern styles minimise the look of the bars for a sleeker look, maximising the amount of light flowing through.
